Update on Walter
 |
We are so happy to report that
Walter was adopted today.
He was
adopted by one of our supporters who is also a
faithful volunteer. She will provide
Walter with all of the love and care that he needs.
The picture below is Walter getting a bath
before he goes to his new home. The picture to
the left is Walter looking very handsome in his new
home.
Thank you to everyone who went to
our Facebook page to suggest a name. There
were many excellent names suggested.

Rosy
 |
Sweet Rosy was
turned in to Retrievers and Friends at the age of 12
years old. Her family had gotten her as a pup
but now they were moving and could not take her with
them.
Rosy came to us with, what we thought,
was a urinary tract infection. She would keep
squatting to potty every few feet.
We asked
her family about this and they said they did not
notice anything. Off they went with a wave of
the hand.
Rosy tried to be brave as the
feeling of abandonment came over her. We told her
the best is yet to come, praying that we could find
a family for her. |
After a week of medication and no sign of improvement,
we took her to our vet for further tests. The news was
not good. Rosy had cancer in her bladder and it was
considered to be very aggressive. We
spent time with Rosy. Her joy was playing in kiddy
pool as you can see in the photo.
Loving life, even when things are at their worst - that's a
Golden Retriever for you. Rosy had a heart of gold.
Her smile in this picture says it all.
We will never forget Rosy. Although she was only with
us for 2 weeks, she was our girl, loved and cared for to the
end.
RFSC is
looking for a volunteer to help with grant
writing.

|
We have identified some potential grants
that could really make a difference at
Retrievers and Friends. We are looking for
a volunteer with strong writing and
organizational skills. Please send us an
email if you would like to help out. |
RFSC's Mobile Vet Clinic...

We wanted to share a picture of our mobile spay/neuter clinic.
We recently hosted a spay/neuter clinic in Riverside. We were able to spay and neuter more than 20 dogs and cats that belonged to the homeless.
The animals were provided the much needed surgeries at no cost
in order to prevent future litters. RFSC volunteers know
that we cannot adopt our way out of the over population problem.
We are trying to do all that we can in order to be part of the
solution.
We pray for a day when all animals have a loving home.
Until then, we would be grateful for
donations to support this much needed program.
Please visit our spay/neuter page for details and to take a look at
our beautiful clinic on wheels!

Vineyard Veterinary
We
are often asked what the rescue "needs". We always need
bleach and
laundry
detergent.
We are always doing laundry. Part of the
challenge is finding time to pick up donations when someone
offers.
Our
wonderful friends at
Vineyard
Veterinary have offered to help out.
If anyone
wants to donate items, they can be dropped off at
